In Breast Implant Surgery, there are three main types of incisions and their placement depends on the type and degree of the breast implant. There will be a scar but it fades out eventually.
Nothing lasts forever, but implants can last for a lifetime in many cases. However, there can be cases where the patients might get implant infection, capsular contracture, or implant leakage and in such situations the removal of the implant is necessary. Sometimes, a patient might want a bigger implant against correction of age related issues like sagging and stretching of breast skin.
Depending on the condition and the degree of the implant patient can go home the very next day and can resume work within a week following the surgery.
Breast Implant is a surgical procedure performed by expert cosmetic surgeons with advanced surgical facilities, precautions, and techniques to avoid any future risk factors. But, it depends on the kind of surgery and the incisions performed whether or not it will interfere with breastfeeding. An incision around the areola is most likely to cause problems in breastfeeding. But, most of the implant incisions won’t create a problem in breastfeeding.
Potential risks of breast implants are minimal which include pain, bruising, swelling, chest tightness etc. Long term complication includes implant leakage or deflation which requires urgent removal.
